Elevating Disaster Response: Rapid Aerial Mapping for Smarter Flood Management
A power company in Suriname needed an efficient way to assess and manage flooding risks following extreme rainfall, which required releasing water from a nearby dam. This caused flooding in several villages, and the company urgently needed elevation data and damage assessments to support emergency measures and future water management planning. The traditional approach was time-consuming and lacked the precision required for such critical tasks. To address this, the company turned to AMPS Drone Services for a more effective solution. We implemented a comprehensive drone surveying system, which included precision mapping using LiDAR and photogrammetry to reach difficult areas.

The data was then processed into elevation models and contour maps, allowing for the identification of safe zones. During the flooding, we conducted flights to document and assess the damage, providing the company with crucial information. By adopting drone technology, the company was able to receive geo-data in record time, enhancing their decision-making process for evacuation and recovery plans. The improved data collection not only expedited their disaster response but also facilitated better coordination with local authorities and had a positive impact on the affected communities. Through AMPS Drone Services, the company was able to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of their disaster response and long-term water management planning.
